Using Filter tracks

The TimeLine Window lets you use transition effects in a movie and specify exactly when they start. Effects and transitions have their own track in the TimeLine Window, referred to as Filter tracks. There are three types of filters:

  • Generic filters (Cloud, Fire, or Ripple) generate their own effect from scratch.

  • Note: Remember that the tracks are reversed in order--the lower the track in the track list, the higher its order in the movie.

  • One Source filters are applied to a single track only and change its visual presentation. This filter needs one video source track.
  • Two Source filters, or transitions, fade out one track and fade in another. This filter needs two video source tracks. Examples include Cross Fade, Explode, Implode, and Gradient Wipe.

  • The following section explains how to use a filter on a movie, using one example for each type of filter. You will find a reference with brief descriptions of the QuickTime video effects available in Adobe GoLive in the sections, QuickTime filter effects and QuickTime transition effects.
